From “see 0:42” to a marker in two clicks

Clients send feedback wherever they are: a WhatsApp at 11 PM, a long email, comments on a review link. Retyping each note as a marker takes ten minutes per round and it’s easy to miss one. This tool reads the times in the text, splits the notes, and gives you a file your editing software already knows how to import.

    1. Paste the chat, email or comments. Names, dates and emojis can stay in.
    2. Check the list. Edit a time or a note, click a dot to change its colour, remove what you don’t need.
    3. Export for Resolve, Premiere, Avid or a spreadsheet, and import it onto your timeline.

    Questions

    Which formats can I paste?

Plain notes with times (0:42, 1:05:30, 01:00:12:08), WhatsApp chat exports from iPhone or Android, comments copied from Frame.io or Vimeo review pages, and CSV exports with a time column and a comment column. One line can hold several notes, and ranges like 0:10–0:14 become markers with a duration.

How do I import the markers into DaVinci Resolve?

Download the .edl, then in the Media Pool right-click your timeline and choose Timelines › Import › Timeline Markers from EDL. The markers keep their notes and colours. Resolve timelines start at 01:00:00:00 by default, which is the value the tool uses for Resolve.

Does it work with Premiere Pro?

Yes. Download the .xml and import it with File › Import. You get a sequence named after your project that carries all the markers, with the full note as the marker comment.

The client wrote 0:42 but my timeline starts at 01:00:00:00. Is that a problem?

No. Times like 0:42 are read as time from the start of the video and are placed at the timeline start plus that time. Full timecodes that are earlier than the timeline start are treated the same way, because they usually come from a review player that starts at zero.

Is my client’s feedback uploaded anywhere?

No. The notes are parsed in your browser and the file is created on your device. Nothing you paste is sent to a server.

Do I need an account or an email?

No. Paste the notes and download the file. Nothing to sign up for.
